These aren't expensive, but I know from unfortunate experience they do the job. I took a 35MPH motorcycle crash on gravel road and emerged unarmed with these. The left knee now has a dent and crack from impact but it is still useable and it only needs to work once to prevent major injury.My only complaint is the velcro straps tend to snag on the loop. Buckles are really better for this purpose.
