I reviewed a lot of heated gloves before making my purchase. Most of the gloves I reviewed had one major drawback in common; They didn't heat your hands very well or for very long. The second biggest drawback was the build/quality of the glove. Many of them seemed as if they weren't actually designed for motorcycle riding. Then I found VOLT! The reviewers claimed that it was unlikely I would ever need to use the last two of the four heat settings. Important that it warms my hands...since it's the main reason to buy heated gloves.I found the claim to be quite true! If you're looking for gloves that heat your hands these are it! But that's not the best part of these gloves! If I were looking for a quality pair of non-heated gloves for riding these would certainly make the top of the list. The build/design is for motorcycle riding. The stitching is as good as you'll find. The raised/embossed lettering on the cuff and backhand are a beautiful touch. There is a tension strap at the wrist and a Velcro strap as well as a draw string on the gauntlet to ensure proper fit and closure to trap the heat so your hands stay toasty warm. All while looking awesome! The general consensus was to order a size larger than you normally wear. There was more than one reviewer that recommended this so I followed that advice. It's good advice! I normally wear a medium. I like a snug fitting glove for riding. I ordered the large and it's a perfect fit! So, yes you should order a size larger than you normally wear. The price. In my research I discovered that many of the gloves and liners offered don't come with the wiring and controller you will need. You have to purchase them separately! Once I added the price of those items I found they were in the same price range as the Volt. The Volt gloves come with everything you'll need .So, be careful when shopping for gloves. Make sure they include the needed accessories to use them!I highly recommended these gloves and would purchase them again without hesitation.UPDATE: It is now approximately 3 years after my purchase and these gloves are still working flawlessly. They still heat the entire hand from wrist to fingertips and have never failed to heat for any reason. The adapter to connect these gloves to a battery tender is available at Cycle Gear as well as Amazon, in case you need one at the last minute. These gloves run just a bit small. Usually large is a bit tight and XL is too big, but the XL Volt gloves fit perfectly.I have tried every combination of glove liners and insulated gloves that exists, and heated gloves are my only option. I have Raynaud's, which means my hands are always cold anyway, and riding with no shield and no grip covers means my hands will have nerve damage if I am not careful. Other riders will wear their summer gloves when it's 50 with no ill effects, while my fingers will look like wrinkled prunes due to the lack of blood flow. Glove liners combined with ridiculously thick insulated gloves didn't make much of a difference and led to me killing the engine since I couldn't feel the clutch position. One great thing about these gloves is that they are actually motorcycle gloves. I can feel myself letting out the clutch or twisting the throttle. No more killing it at a stoplight. They fasten over my riding jacket and easily tighten with one hand in 3 places to keep the wind from getting in.As for the heating feature, it is much better than I expected. It has 4 settings which seem to be hot, really hot, too hot, and melt flesh. In temperatures down to 40 I use the first setting, and my hands stay nice and toasty. Once it gets around freezing I use the second setting, and I generally need to alternate between that and the lowest setting to be comfortable. I haven't needed to use either of the highest settings, but I've only ridden in temps down to 30 so far. I really layer up on cold days, and my hands were the only thing I couldn't keep warm, until now.I currently just have these hooked up to the quick disconnect on my battery tender, making sure to unhook it whenever I turn off the bike. It required a female coax to sae adapter.I would normally wear a medium sized glove, but the reviews here said to order a size larger, and I did. Hard to explain, but even 1 size larger, my fingers were tight in circumference, but short in length. Not bad, I could still operate clutch and front brake as well as switches. I already have a battery hook-up for a tender, it uses the SAE connector, so I bought the short adapter (SAE to plug). I did have to cut the rings off of the stock connector, and replace it with the adapter. Make sure that when you connect the two, that you keep track of the positive wire, and make sure that the positive off of the battery goes to the unit's harness wire--the one with the fuse assembly. I used crimped connectors and heat-shrinked shrouds--its quite stable. I used the unit for the first time yesterday (Thanksgiving 2017). It was in the high 20's low 30's. There are 4 settings, I think. From Highest to lowest is: Red: Amber: Green: Blinking Green. I found that the GREEN level (2nd lowest) was adequate to keep my hands and fingers warm. Just for fun, I tried the AMBER (yellow) level, and my hands were sweating--so I guess RED and AMBER are for riding in arctic blizzard conditions. Right now, I can only use these while connected to my motorcycle, I might engineer a 12V battery pack, so I can use these gloves while shoveling snow, etc....
